The plotting board, along with a wind component indicator, and the AGFA range percentage corrector formed the basis for the plotting room display. Below, PVT Malone and 2LT Taylor explain the use of the plotting room equipment to the public.

 


Of all the fire control towers constructed at Fort Monroe from 1895 to 1944, only one remains. It is the former C2 (inner command) station that was constructed in the fall of 1942 and was turned over to the Coast Artillery in March 1943. The top floor of the tower was set up as an observation/fire control station with two M1910A1 azimuth instruments, four EE-91 common battery telephones, a Time Interval system, and various charts and materials to demonstrate the robustness of the defenses in the WWII time period. Below, 1st SGT Murray and SSG Houck explain the workings of the C2 station to the public.

 


The C2 station is a fairly large concrete structure with three levels. PFC Minton and PVT Turner are posted at the base of the C2 station in the photo below.
